13 DAY JEWISH HERITAGE TOUR OF ISRAEL

Enjoy vacation leisure time in Tel Aviv, and prepare for your tour to Caesarea, on to Haifa and breathtaking vies of Mount Carmel, visit “AF AL PI CHEN” naval museum, after we’ll drive to UNESCO World Heritage site Acre, then Rosh Hanikra and the limestone grottoes, following continue to Safed, Joseph Caro & Ha’Ari synagogues, the Artist Quarter, and explore the desert a Jeep Tour in the Golan, arrive at observation point in Golan Heights, after Tel Facher, and visit the Banias springs, and Tal-Hai. Travel to Tiberias and tour the Tomb of Maimonides, on to Beit She’an the largest archeological parck, next Beit Alpha, Gan Hashlosha, Mount Scopus, and on to the Golden City of Jerusalem. Explore Old Jerusalem; the Tomb of King David, Mount Zion, Cardo, Sephardic synagogues, the Jewish Quarter, Western Wall Tunnels, and Western Wall, Temple Mount, and Davidson center, walk through Jaffa gate and enter David’s Tower museum. The next day is New Jerusalem; Mea Shearim, the Knesset, the Menorah, then enter Israel Museum and see the Shrine of the Book, and the Dead Sea Scrolls, on to Mount Hertzel, witness Yad Vashem the Holocaust museum, and last tour Ammunition Hill. On your final day of touring experience the Dead Sea, Qumran, and the Masada fortress. On your last day enjoy a day of leisure to say good bye to family and friends, or time for touring the city of Jerusalem on your own.

Day 1 - TUESDAY
Departure on your way to Israel, The Land of the Bible.
Day 2 - WEDNESDAY
Tel Aviv
Welcome to Israel, upon arrival into Ben Gurion International Airport, you will be met and assisted by our airport representative. Transfer to your hotel in Tel Aviv – – Israel largest and modern city with short distance to Jaffa. Check in at your hotel for dinner and overnight rest from your flight. This beautiful city is on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea, and offers a lively city center with shopping, family attractions, and the popular promendade by the beach with wonderful restaurants, stores, and coffee shops. Time permitting visit relatives, and friends if they live in Tel Aviv, go dining, shopping, or visit the artistic neighborhood of Neve Tzedek and enjoy vacation time on your own.

Day 3 – THURSDAY
Independence Hall / Latrun / Beit Guvrin / Yad Mordechai
Start the day with a visit to the Independence Hall where the establishment of the state of Israel was declared; Next, drive to Latrun to visit the Armored Corps museum, one of the most diverse tank museums in the world. Visit Beit Guvrin national park, declared by UNESCO as a world heritage site, and explore some of the caves and archaeological remains. Continue to visit Ayalon Institute, once an ammunition factory for the Haganah, the underground movement before May 1948.

Day 4 - FRIDAY
Tel Aviv
On your Jewish heritage tour today we’ll visit the Diaspora Museum, and learn about the history and culture of the Jewish people through out the world, the museum includes virtual exhibits. After we drive on a city tour on the main streets of Tel Aviv, and see the center of business and entertainment of this modern city. We take time and visit Rabin's Square, the place of assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. Continue on to Old Jaffa, the oldest old port city to be 8,000 years. Explore the ancient ruins and walk along the restored Artist Quarters. See Neve Tzedek, the first neighborhood in Tel Aviv, built in 1909, and walk on Nahalat Benyamin, the colorful street of the city with musicians, hand made jewelry, and arts and crafts. Last we stop at Sheinkin, the lively street known for unique shops, café life and youthful ambiance.

Day 6 – SUNDAY
Caesarea / Haifa / Acre / Rosh Hanikra
The start of your Jewish Heritage escorted tour begins with a drive along the costal plains in to Caesarea, once Judea capital under Roman rule. See this amazing port city build by built by Herod the Great, explore the aqueduct, amphitheatre, and excavations of the crusaders and ancient city. Continue to Haifa for a breathtaking view from Mount Carmel. Next we’ll drive to Acre and walk along its old harbor and local market. Continue to the northernmost point of Israel at Rosh Hanikra. Descend by cable into the limestone grottoes.

Day 7 - MONDAY
Safed / Gadot / Banias / Tel Hai
After a Israeli breakfast in your hotel we’ll drive to Safed, center of the Kaballa movement; visit the Joseph Caro synagogue and the Ha’Ari synagogue, the most important synagogues in the city; stroll around the Artists' quarter. Next we’ll explore on a Jeep tour at the foot of the Golan. After we continue to Golan Heights and stop at Gadot overlook (Mitzpe Gadot), the memorial site for the fallen of the Golan, located over former Syrian bunkers and see the monument built on site in honor of the Alexandroni brigade; proceed for a magnificent observation point over the city of Keuneitra, and the Syrian territory. Visit the Banias springs. Next we’ll see Tel-Hai and see the “Roaring Lion” monument and learn about the heroic battle of Josef Trumpeldor and his comrades in 1920. Meet with a Kibbutz member and learn about their unique lifestyle.

Day 8 - TUESDAY
Beit Shean / Beit Alpha / Gan Hashlosha / Jerusalem
On your Jewish tour today we’ll drive to Tiberias and visit the Tomb of Maimonides (Kever ha-Rambam), one of the most important Jewish pilgrimage sites in Israel honoring the famous Jewish philosopher, and one of Tiberias most visited tourist attractions. Continue our travel on to Beit She'an, the largest archeological park in Israel with amazing excavations from the Roman and Byzantine periods. This site rivals those of ruins in ancient Rome. Next on your tour we stop at Beit Alpha to see beautiful mosaic floors of a synagogue from the Byzantine era. Onto Gan Hashlosha (Sachne), where you will have an opportunity to enjoy the water springs located at the foot of the Gilboa Mountain, the famous mountain on which King Saul was killed in the battle against the Philistines. Continue via the Jordan valley to Jerusalem with a stop at Mount Scopus for a blessing as you enter the Golden City of Jerusalem.

Day 9 - WEDNESDAY
Jerusalem: Old City
Today we begin our heritage tour in the Old City of Jerusalem. We’ll visit the Tomb of King David on Mount Zion, and continue with a walk along the Cardo, an ancient Roman road. After we visit four Sephardic synagogues restored after the 1967 war in the Jewish Quarter. Then continue with a visit to the Western Wall Tunnels along the base of the Western Wall- the holiest site in Judaism and one of the original walls that retained the Temple, leading us through the Second Temple era and marvel at the amazing construction of your ancestors of the Temple Mount. Here we visit the Davidson center and on to the local Arab bazaar, where you can test your negotiating skills with the local vendors. Then walk through the Jaffa gate to David's Tower museum and see ancient remains of the city beginning with the first Temple period.

Day 10 - THURSDAY
Jerusalem: New City
After breakfast we arrive to the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem.
After time for prayer and reflection on the Western Wall we continue to Mea Shearim, and learn about the unique lifestyle of the ultra orthodox Jewish communities. We’ll continue our Jerusalem tour driving to the Knesset, Israel’s parliament building, and see the Menorah with the biblical emblems. Next visit the Israel Museum, and the Shrine of the Book where the Dead Sea Scrolls are housed, and the new holy land model – a miniature replica of Jerusalem as it was during the second Temple period. Drive to Mount Hertzel, and see the military cemetery and Yad Vashem, the memorial to the Holocaust. Tour the Ammunition Hill, a former Jordanian army stronghold, conquered by the Israeli army in the Six Day War, and converted into a national memorial site and museum.

Day 11 - FRIDAY
Qumran / Massada / Dead Sea
Enjoy and see the Judean Desert when we drive to the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth. Beginning with a stop at Qumran, the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls where found in 1947 by a Bedouin boy. We’ll continue to perhaps one of the most impressive sites in Israel to the fortress of Masada, and the last stronghold of the Jews after the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 A.D. Here we ascend by cable car high up to Masada and tour the ancient fortress exploring the food storeroom, water irrigation system, bath houses and Herod’s Palace. After we descend Masada by cable car, and stop for lunch and local spa facilities in one of the leading hotels in the area.

Breakfast at your hotel, please check out from your room at 12 noon and leave your luggage with the Hotel Concierge. Pick up time from the hotel lobby to Ben Gurion airport will be 4 hours before your departure flight.
